Install the Plugin#

First, download and install Blocked in China on your WordPress site. You can grab the free version from WordPress.org or upgrade to a paid plan for higher-frequency scheduled checks.

Run a Check#

In your WordPress admin, navigate to the Blocked in China menu item.

On the Status tab, click Check Status.

Wait a few seconds for results to come back from the API.

Review the table of results, one row per Chinese province tested.

One monthly status check is included in the free plan. To run Weekly, Daily, or Hourly checks, please upgrade.

Reading Your Results#

Your status results display in a table showing each Chinese province, the IP address your site was tested against, and the status check result from that location.

If your site is unreachable from one or more provinces, the result column flags it so you can investigate further. If everything is green, your site is reachable from inside mainland China.

Admin Bar Status#

You can optionally surface the most recent status check result directly in your WordPress admin bar, so you don't have to visit the plugin page to check current availability. Look for the toggle in the plugin settings to enable this.

Next Steps#

Now that you've run your first check, consider scheduling automatic checks so you're notified the moment your site goes unreachable.
